The Big Draw – Art Workshops
To celebrate The Big Draw, a national drawing campaign, The Lowry recruited Spacecadets to run workshops for a group of young people to create some amazing structures and sculptures. Over a month we collaborated with local schools and groups to create huge paper pods that were exhibited at The Lowry in time for The Big Draw.
The Big Draw is a national celebration of drawing it involves a series of events in the UK every year where everyone has the chance to give drawing a go. It is an annual campaign designed to demonstrate that drawing is enjoyable, liberating and at everyone’s fingertips.
Spacecadets held workshops for local schools and community groups within the Lowry gallery. Paper pods, inspired by the life cycles of natural forms were interlinked within the gallery foyer. Visitors could draw on the inside or outside of the paper pods using Indian ink, as part of a free workshop.
The Big Draw recognised the work by issuing a Drawing Inspiration Award.
