Spacecadets collaborated with animator Matt Howarth of Puppetman Productions to produce Calavera – a giant Sugar skull inspired by Mexican Day of the Dead with ever changing audience controlled phenakistoscope eyes.

Spacecadets have been busy creating these massive interactive Spices for the Full of Spice Festival at Kew Gardens. Do you love the aroma of garlic? Go wild for the scent of nutmeg? The perfumes of spices are so comforting and evocative that sometimes you just want to get inside them don’t you? Well, now you can! This summer sees innovative and massive inflatable spices on display at Kew Gardens. Look around inside a gigantic stem of ginger and get up-close-and-personal with a monstrous 14 metre chilli!

Our colossal spices, including garlic, chilli, ginger and nutmeg, are awe-inspiring, enormous, and they smell real! Head holes at a variety of heights allow people of all ages to explore the spicy interiors while their exterior skins are host to an array of fascinating and spicy facts. It’s a sensory extravaganza for children and adults alike, and you’ll never look at a spice rack in quite the same way again.

Blood and Bone – Gallery 1  

Spacecadets have taken inspiration from human biology and the artworks are inspired by cells and organisms inside our bodies.  You are invited to explore, listen to and touch a series of giant breathing tunnels and caves indicative of body organs, blood cells and bone.

 Microbes – Gallery 2  

Climb through a glowing landscape of shapes and light, get busy and watch what unfolds. Inspired the beautiful microscopic imagery of bacteria and cells that live within us this brand new family focused exhibition is full of delightful, unexpected happenings.

Lamplighter festival

Lamplighter festival is nearly upon us again!

On December 6th the streets of Todmorden will light up with a lantern parade, fire performers, illuminated installations, street bands, shadow puppets, torch-lid belly dancers, and night markets. Spacecadets giant inflatable sculptures will illuminate up the town.

Rochdale Christmas lights 2014

Christmas Lights Switch On, parades and festivities as Christmas get underway in Rochdale.

On Saturday 22nd November 2013 Rochdale Town Centre turned on the Christmas Lights! The parade started 4 pm on Yorkshire Street, with tons of live performances such as choirs and street theatre with trapeze performers from the Skylight Circus. Local children made magical lanterns for the parade, and the lights were turned on by the new ambassador of Rochdale Katie McGlynn, the star of Waterloo Road and Coronation Street.

Manchester Diwali Mela 2014

This years Diwali mela took place in Albert Square, Manchester city centre. Spacecadet’s provided site decor and were a major part of the night time  parade with their newly commissioned breathing lotus flower and giant inflatable elephant.

Diwali , ‘The Festival of Lights’ – signifies the end of darkness which stands for ignorance and the beginning of knowledge symbolized by lights. Lamps are lit as a sign of celebration and hope for mankind. Celebrations focus on lights and lamps, and fireworks. The festival commemorates the victory of Good over Evil.

Children’s Festival – Ulster Museum

Space Cadets in association with the Ulster Museum
First commissioned by the Storey Gallery, Lancaster, Space Pups is a unique installation of inflatable dogs suspended in the air above reach.  Every two minutes they inflate and deflate, bringing the visitor into a calm understanding of the cycle of birth, death and rebirth within nature.  For children, these large suspended pieces are captivating, attractive to watch and imbuing both a sense of calm and novelty – watching the pups come to life overhead.

Checkout the giant balloons Spacecadets made for the ‘We Love Manchester’ charity on the massive Manchester Day Parade, 2nd June 2013. It was the first time We love Manchester have been part of the parade so they wanted a big image to create as much impact as possible. They were vey happy with our designs.
